The Bible says that man was created to know God, and to love and serve God (Deuteronomy 6:4). Created by God, who also created the universe, man has a place in his heart where he knows God exists - even if nobody tells him (Romans 1:20). The Bible says that God
put eternity there (Ecclesiastes 3:11) so that a man would recognize the truth when he met Jesus.
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3).
To deny any of this is to pretend that you don’t have to be responsible for what God built into creation and planted into each of our hearts. It’s kind of like putting your fingers in your ears and saying, “Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.” You may not hear anything, but it doesn’t make it go away.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20
