Atheism...Where is God in Russia?

By the late 1980’s, with the weaknesses of its economic and political structures becoming acute, the Communist leaders embarked on major reforms, which led to the fall of the Soviet Union. This was BIG. Some say, that their belief in atheism, "the rejection of religion", seemed to be tied to their downfall as a country.

In essence, a culture where God has been removed by revolution and is ignored, is a culture where people who know the Bible, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are in short supply. It means there is well, a big empty space that needs to be filled back up.

You see, it’s been a long time since church was popular – so kids may not know God exists or if they've heard of Him, they probably don't understand Him. In fact, only about ONE percent of the population of Russia know Christ personally and are following the Bible…that’s only 1.5 million people (out of 143 million people!)

Granted, life is hard in Russia today. Without the hope that God and His Word provide, generations have turned to drug abuse and alcohol (the world’s highest rate per population) and abortions are more frequent than live births. Despair is the natural fall-out from generations of people turning their back on God.

"God loves you!" in Russian.
